Finish Crossing off Your List at BJ’s Wholesale Club

Last week I accepted the challenge to go into BJ’s Wholesale Club and see how many gifts I could cross off my list for $100.

I was able to come out with 6 really nice gifts for $100 even, plus tax.

Here’s what I found:

Gifts from BJ's

2 sets of Rubbermaid containers,  2 toy bow and arrow sets, a body pillow for my niece, and hunting socks for my husband.

I found a lot of other really nice gift ideas there that I had to pass on since they weren’t a fit for the people on my list.  For instance, I found the aisle with the Babycakes Waffle Stick Maker as well as the other Babycakes machines.  I wanted to get my sister-in-law a waffle stick maker and give her a big jar of waffle mix with it, but I called my brother and he said she had just gotten a waffle iron.

Babycakes Waffle Stick Maker

They had a 196 piece Art Set for $12.99 that would make a great gift for a kid.

Art 101 196 Piece Art Set

They also had Holiday Mug 4 packs for $19.99 that you could break apart for neighbor or teacher gifts.

Overall, I was very impressed with my trip to BJ’s.  I found a lot of great gift ideas at very good prices.

If you don’t have a BJ’s membership, you can use their Free 60-Day Trial Membership which can be activated until December 31.  The risk-free, trial membership includes full member benefits including savings and no surcharge!

Here are all of the fabulous products that were featured:

Wise DecorGorgeous Decorative Wall Lettering and tons of choices!

reuseit.com – we featured the Vegetable Keep Sacks and the Lettuce Keeper.  Both are great for prolonging the life of your produce!

Boogie Wipes – love these things!  So gentle on little noses during cold season!

Paperless Kitchen – we featured the Skoy Cloths.  One cloth replaces up to 15 rolls of disposable paper towels!

Ponderosa Roasting Coffee Company – lots of yummy flavors to choose from!

Veratemp Non-Contact Thermometer – how convenient is that?!

Lily Organics – we tried the Organic Moisture Mist.  It has a soft, subtle scent that was very pleasant.  Plus, I love using a product that has no chemicals!

Kwik Kut choppers – my mom has used these for years, and I have used one all my married life too.  Perfect for easily chopping cooked meat and vegetables and so much easier than dragging out the food processor!  Through December 31st, you can buy a TE60 or PE61 and get the other for ½ price!  Just enter “www.thedealscoop.com” under “organization” when you check out.

The Muffin Tin Cookbook - lots of fun recipes!

Cool Gear – we featured several products.  .  The Freeze & Lock is a pretty neat concept.  It has freezer gel inside the lid.  You can freeze the lid before you pack your lunch and it eliminates the need for an ice pack in your lunch box.  The snowglobe tumbler was so cute.  I’m going to have to get one for my 5 year old because he was absolutely enthralled with it!  The razor coffee cup is a cup that insulates hot or cold drinks.  It’s also spillproof, and I love the fact that it’s dishwasher safe – a big timesaver for me.

Goat Milk Stuff – This stuff is amazing!  If you have dry skin and don’t like chemicals in your beauty products, you need to try this!  The lotion stick was my favorite!  It doesn’t feel oily or greasy like most lotions do, but it provided the best moisture and the longest-lasting moisture of anything I’ve ever tried.

Newman’s Own Organics - Not to be confused with Newman’s Own, this is a separate company.  All of their products are, of course, organic.  I love having convenient snack foods available to me and my family that are organic.  They offer a huge variety of different types of pretzels, cookies, licorice, mints, chocolate, candy bars, dried fruit, and popcorn.  I was surprised to find out that my favorite thing was their Ginger-O’s.  I wasn’t so sure I’d like them, but I couldn’t stop eating them.  Of course their organic chocolate bars were amazing, and I also liked their oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and ginger snaps a lot.

FunBites – these are a great concept too.  You can easily cut sandwiches, pancakes, cheese, etc. into fun, bite-sized pieces.  Little ones would enjoy eating the little pieces, and they’re also great for parties.  This could actually stand to be a bit sharper, which would make it easier to cut through things.  Right now there are two varieties available – squares and a heart shape made from smaller geometric shapes.

Roux Maison – If you don’t like chemicals in your laundry detergent, you should check into Roux Maison.  I’ve been using it for several weeks, and it does just as good of a job as any other detergent I’ve used.  It’s blended with 100% natural essential oils that are synthetic and preservative free.

Beaded Royalty – we featured the snowman earrings.  You’ve got to head over and take a look at them!  I was completely surprised by how elegant they are!

Woolzies – These are dryer balls that are made from wool.  Not only do you not have to worry about chemicals in your fabric softener when you use these, but they also reduce drying time as well.  The lady who ended up with these at the party was excited to try them because their family has allergies and can’t use any fabric softener.

Zutano – very cute and modern kids’ clothes.  My little girl has been wearing the peacock toddler dress with leggings.  I love how warm the dress is!  There are a whole bunch of different options in the peacock line alone, not to mention the tons of other lines they have available.

Clipa -  never set your purse on the dirty floor of a restaurant or public bathroom again!  Keep the Clipa hooked on your purse handle, then hook it to the restaurant table or bathroom stall door and hang your purse on it.

Create Abilities for Kids - this is a really handy service for busy moms.  Every month you can receive a pack of two craft kits with all the supplies already gathered together.  There are instructions included along with everything else that’s needed including paintbrushes, glue, paint, etc.  If there are pieces that need to be cut out, they’ve already done it for you.

Contigo – we featured the autoseal stainless steel travel mug and the Autoseal Kids stainless steel scout cup.  I cannot say strongly enough how much I LOVE these water bottles!  Drinks really do stay hot or cold in them for a VERY long time.  The no-spill and one-handed design is just incredible.  I had to buy one for my husband because he loved mine so much and kept taking it to work with him.

Now, here’s your chance to check out some of these great products!  Enter on the rafflecopter form below!  The giveaway will end at 11:59 pm on December 31st.

Huggies Snug and Dry: Value for Mom; Comfort for Baby #HuggiesWalmart

Every mom with little ones in diapers wants to find a brand that not only offers the best value for her wallet, but also does the best job keeping baby clean, dry, and rash-free.

At our house, we love using Huggies Snug and Dry.  They’re a great price, but they do a fantastic job!  We have never had any problems with my active little guy having leaky diapers or getting rashes.

Huggies Snug and Dry

I love shopping for diapers online because I am so bad about remembering to pick them up while I’m at the store.  When I realize I’m getting low, I can just go online and immediately order them while I’m thinking about it.

I was down to my last few diapers, so I hopped onto walmart.com and ordered 2 super packs of Huggies Snug and Dry diapers.

Huggies Snug and Dry

Bonus!  They’re on rollback right now too!

I got an email that same afternoon saying my order was ready for pickup.  I was running some errands that evening, so all I had to do was stop by Walmart on the way home and pick them up.  Done!  I love easy!

Huggies Snug and Dry

Aaahhh! It feels so good to be restocked on diapers again!

Huggies Snug and Dry

This is the life! Hanging out on sissy’s cozy bed in my comfy Snug and Dry diapers!

Moms, have you ever used Huggies Snug and Dry?  Check them out at Walmart or walmart.com while they’re on rollback!

If you don’t have little ones in diapers, don’t forget that Huggies Snug and Dry would make an awesome baby shower gift!

How I Turned Pocket Change into Groceries #NoFeeCoinstar #CBias

My little man and I went on a date today.

(Ain’t we cute?)

We went to the next town over (about 30 minutes away) and did a little shopping and ate some pizza.

But what does that have to do with pocket change and groceries?

I’m all about coupons and deals, so whenever I have the opportunity to get a good deal, I’m on it!  Bi-Lo often has great sales that can be combined with coupons, but there is not one in our town.  However, I knew there was one in the town where we were going on our date.

I checked over the ad and saw a couple good deals that I wanted to pick up while we were in the area.

Since I’m all about pinching every penny (literally!), I was looking for a good way to use up the loose change that seems to collect in the console of the van.  I also have problems with the change compartment of my wallet bursting at the seams.

I had heard of Coinstar coin conversion before, but never really paid much attention to it.  I didn’t figure the few coins from the van and my wallet would be enough to justify paying the conversion fee.

However, through my friends at Collective Bias, I discovered that I could convert my coins to a Bi-Lo gift card with no fee!

That was enough convincing for me to give it a try!  I scrounged up the coins out of the van and from my wallet and headed on over to Bi-Lo after we were finished shopping and eating.

We grabbed our bag of change and went inside to find the Coinstar machine.

When we finished converting our coins we received a gift card with $10.83 on it.

We were thirsty after shopping, so we got some drinks.  I also picked up four boxes of Cheez-its for $1.67 each and a bottle of All detergent for $1.99.

My total was $12.03, so I only had to pay $1.20 after I used my gift card.  I got some good deals, and I got to use up all my loose change without having to pay a conversion fee!
If you want to take a  more detailed look at my experience, you can flip through my Google+ album here.

Also, be sure you’re following Coinstar on Facebook and Twitter and also Bi-Lo on Facebook and Twitter to make sure you’re keeping up with the latest news and deals!

Disclosure: I have been paid (at Coinstar’s request) to try and blog about Coinstar’s products/services as part of a Collective Bias shopper insights study. All opinions are my own.

Book Review: The Money Saving Mom’s Budget

Crystal Paine, of MoneySavingMom.com released her very first book a couple days ago entitled The Money Saving Mom’s Budget.

This book is perfect for families or individuals looking for financial help.  The language in which it is written is so simple and down-to-earth that anyone can understand it.  It is written for real people like you and me.  If you’re looking for some numerical mumbo jumbo that sounds all fancy-shmancy, don’t read this book.  If you’re looking for something simple, easy-to-understand, and practical,  read this book!

Unsuspecting readers may confused to find that the second chapter is all about reducing clutter from your life.  If you’re wondering how in the world that has anything to do with your finances, you need to read this post over at Amy’s Finer Things.  I could completely relate.  Are you starting to understand why this book is so practical and down-to-earth?  Crystal addresses the real issues that need to be addressed regarding our finances.  She starts down at the very foundation of the house before she tries to put the shingles on the roof.

Thanks to great training from both my parents and my husband’s, we have never had much of a problem managing our finances or staying out of debt.  But, we can all learn something new, and I found quite a few great little nuggets in this book.  (You know, like how keeping clutter out of the house can help reduce expenses.)  There are tons of little tidbits thrown in there on just about everything you can imagine, from how to save money on eyeglasses to how to save money on your groceries without using coupons to how to make your own homemade cleaners.  Tons, really.  So many that you just need to read the book.

Whether you’ve already got a good handle on your family’s budget or whether this is all new to you, there is enough practical wisdom packed in those 224 pages for every single person who reads this book to learn something new.

One thing in particular that has helped our family is going on a cash budget.  As I mentioned before, we were already doing pretty well managing our finances and we honestly did not think there was anything else we could cut out.  We don’t have a landline; we drive a fully-payed-for used car; we do everything that frugal people are supposed to do.  Why in the world should we have switched to a cash budget?  Amazingly, our already crushed-to-the-tiniest-size-possible grocery budget dropped even lower when we switched to spending cash only.  Our savings has increased when we thought there was no more money to squeeze from anywhere.  Crystal explains all the whys and the hows of the cash budget in The Money Saving Mom’s Budget, and I guarantee that you will be forever grateful to yourself if you read it and put her advice into practice.

Hopefully I’ve given you enough reason to grab this book (at the reduced price of only $8.40 right now).  But I’ll mention one final thing.  I’ve been reading MoneySavingMom.com for around 4 years, and I have seen that the contents of this book stem from principles that are lived out in Crystal’s life every single day.  She’s sharing her own experiences so that others can avoid the hard road of debt or ill-managed finances.  All this is given not in a know-it-all fashion, but in genuine care and concern for others.

You can order a copy of The Money Saving Mom’s Budget from Amazon.com or pick it up at your local Barnes & Noble bookstore.

Try Silk in Your Cereal! {Giveaway}

I am a cereal girl.  Big time.  I eat it almost every day for breakfast, and often as a snack in between meals or before bed.  The folks from Silk asked me to try out any of their varieties of Silk in my cereal and see what I thought.  The truth is, I’d already tried it before they asked me!  I tried the vanilla flavored Silk Pure Almond with several types of cereal, and I think it’s delicious as long as I eat it with the right kind of cereal.  Since it has a sweet vanilla taste, I think it goes better with a cereal that’s plain tasting.

According to a national taste test, most people prefer the taste of Silk Vanilla in their cereal over dairy milk.  Whether it be a variety of Silk Soymilk, Silk Light Soymilk, or Silk Pure Almond, you’re bound to like it!  Silk also offers 50 percent more calcium than typical dairy milk.

The folks from Silk are challenging you to “Switch to Silk”.  They’re sure you’ll like it too!

Giveaway:

One of my readers is going to have the chance to“Switch to Silk” for free!  The winner will receive a prize pack like the one pictured below, which includes a Silk cereal bowl, a Silk ChicoBag, and 2 coupons for free Silk products.

To enter, just follow the instructions on the form below.  (If you can’t see it, click “Read More”.)
